Paddington the Bear
|
Another great bear for any collection is the Paddington Bear. Paddington was introduced in 1958 and has appeared in 14 books written by Michael Bond. Paddington became a huge success and eventually into a franchise. Paddington bear is more of teddy bear in style than say that of Winnie the Pooh. The story says the write based Paddington on a bear that he and his wife saw in a toy store, it was the only bear left and they thought he would be lonely so they bought it.
Paddington Bear is actually English and speaks English like the country not the language. He wears an old red hat that he never takes off; he carries around a suitcase with secret compartments to take his belongings with him where ever he goes. He wears wellington yellow boots and a duffle blue coat. Part of Paddington’s charm is he is always proper and very polite. He teaches children to be polite as well.
He loves marmalade sandwiches and cocoa. As cute and proper as he is, he also has a knack for getting into trouble. But he is a soft soul and everything always works out. He would make an excellent addition to any teddy bear collection. There are big Paddington’s and little Paddington’s. The style of the bear has pretty much stayed true over the years. |
